These La Boulangère Pains au Chocolat croissants have become one of my go-to breakfast options for busy mornings. They’re light, flaky, and filled with just the right amount of chocolate, making them a perfect quick breakfast on the go or an easy snack. I also love tossing them into my kids’ school lunch boxes as a little treat. The best part? They taste even better warmed up for just 10 seconds, bringing out that fresh-baked texture and making the chocolate nice and melty.

    Taste and Texture

These pastries are buttery, airy, and lightly crisp on the outside, just like a good croissant should be. The chocolate filling is rich but not too sweet, so it doesn’t feel overwhelming for breakfast. The layers of pastry are flaky and soft, making each bite light but satisfying. I do wish there was a bit more chocolate inside, but overall, the balance between pastry and filling works well.

    Preparation (Heating)

These are ready to eat straight from the package, but a quick heat-up makes a big difference. Here’s how I like to prepare them:

    • Microwave: Heat for 10 seconds – just enough to make the chocolate soft and gooey while keeping the pastry light and flaky.
    • Oven: Bake at 300°F for about 5 minutes if I want them to taste more like they just came out of a bakery.
    • Air Fryer: If I have extra time, I pop them in at 320°F for 3 minutes.

    Nutrition

These pastries are definitely an indulgence, but they aren’t overly sweet, which makes them a great breakfast option compared to heavier desserts. They contain butter, flour, and chocolate, so while they’re not exactly health food, they feel more natural than some pre-packaged pastries.

    Pros and Cons

    Pros

    • Light, flaky pastry with a rich chocolate filling
    • Super convenient for breakfast or snacks
    • Tastes even better when warmed up
    • Not too sweet, making them great for mornings
    • Perfect size for lunch boxes or a small treat

    Cons

    • Could use a little more chocolate inside
    • Not the healthiest option, but great for an occasional treat

    Location in Store

I found these in the dry goods section toward the back of the store at Costco, near other pastries and croissants. They come in a 16-pack, which is great for stocking up without worrying about running out too quickly.

    Final Verdict

We also love taking these to the airport for an easy, mess-free snack while traveling. They’re portable, don’t require refrigeration, and make a great alternative to overpriced airport food. La Boulangère Pains au Chocolat pastries are a must-have for quick, easy breakfasts and snacks.

They’re flaky, buttery, and just sweet enough, making them a great option for mornings when I need something fast but delicious. Heating them up for a few seconds takes them to another level, and my kids love finding one in their lunchbox. While I wouldn’t mind a little more chocolate, I’ll definitely keep buying these!

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) – Light, Flaky, and Perfect for Busy Mornings

Would I buy it again? Absolutely! These are a household favorite.
