Boulder Organic Foods White Chicken & Wild Rice Soup – Costco Review

I love a good comforting soup, especially when I don’t have time to make one from scratch. When I saw Boulder Organic Foods White Chicken & Wild Rice Soup at Costco, I thought it could be a great option for a quick meal. It’s a hearty, protein-packed soup that’s easy to heat up, but unfortunately, while I appreciated the convenience, I found it to be a bit too salty for my taste.

    Taste and Texture

The soup has a thick, creamy broth with plenty of shredded chicken, wild rice, and vegetables. The chicken itself is tender and well-cooked, and the wild rice adds a nice texture.

The broth is flavorful but leans heavily on the salty side, which made it a little overpowering for me. If you like a bold, seasoned soup, this might be fine for you, but I personally prefer something a little more balanced.

    Preparation (Heating)

This soup is ready to go with minimal effort, which is always a plus. I tried heating it both ways:

    • Stovetop: Heated on low for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    • Microwave: Heated for 2-3 minutes, stirring halfway through.

Either method works well, and the soup retains its thick, creamy consistency without separating.

    Ingredients and Quality

This soup is made with real, recognizable ingredients, which I always appreciate in a pre-made meal. The chicken is shredded and not overly processed, and the vegetables and wild rice give it a homemade feel.

    Nutrition

Since this is a hearty soup with real ingredients, it’s a good source of protein from the chicken. However, like many pre-made soups, the sodium content is quite high, which is something to consider if you’re watching your salt intake.

    Pros and Cons

    Pros

    • Convenient and easy to heat up
    • Good amount of chicken and wild rice
    • Thick, creamy texture

    Cons

    • Too salty for my taste

    Location in Store

I found this in the refrigerated section at Costco, near other pre-made soups and ready-to-eat meals like Aidells Teriyaki & Pineapple Chicken Meatballs and Kirkland Signature Five Cheese Tortelloni.

    Final Verdict

While I love a good, hearty soup, this one was a little too salty for me. It’s still a convenient option if you need something quick, but I don’t think I’ll be buying it again. However, if you don’t mind a bold, salty broth, it might be worth trying for a fast, protein-packed meal.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (⅗) – Decent, but not for me.

I liked the chicken/wild rice soup. I tend to like salty/spicy soup, probably probably more than I should. It is quick to heat and make a quick supper. I don't eat it often as too much salt is not good for is us. All in all it is really.

Personally I thought it was way to bland. Had to add salt and pepper and it was still barely edible. Even my dog wouldn't touch it.
